On April 23-26 and April 30- May 3, 2015, the Hutchinson Theatre Guild’s (HTG) 2015 season continues with “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.” With book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, this long-running, award winning off-Broadway smash hit continues HTG’s tradition of quality, thought-provoking and hugely entertaining theatre productions. Tickets are available at the door, online at hutchtheatre.com or at Apron Strings (1 S. Main, Hutchinson).

“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” debuted in New York City, NY in 1996 and quickly became a run-away success.  Credited with the revival of the musical comedy revue, a genre that was nearly extinct in the mid-1990s, the show examines the mysterious and often frustrating process of being in a romantic relationship in the 21st century. From the first date to the funeral home, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” features a broad range of musical styles and sketches that will leave audiences laughing in the aisles. Poignant, charming and unassuming, this musical is the perfect night out at the theatre.

HTG’s production of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” marks the first time the show has been produced in Hutchinson, Kan. It features live accompaniment. Linda Mann, accompanist at Trinity United Methodist Church and Hutchinson High School, lends her talents as a pianist to the production and Wilfred Sebastian will be featured on the violin. Both are making their HTG debut. In addition to live music, the production features many fantastic technical elements.

“Audiences are in for a real treat in this excellent production,” said Charles Johnston, Production Coordinator for the Guild and Director of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.” “The stage will feature an eight foot turntable which will assist our six talented actors as they segue from scene to scene. This is a fast-paced musical comedy revue unlike anything Hutchinson has ever seen.”

The production features a mixed ensemble. Amy Bretz, Katherine Eberly and Amy Frederick, make their Stage 9 debut as members of the women’s ensemble. Bretz and Frederick performed with HTG over a decade ago.  The men’s ensemble includes Jacob Aden, Benjamin Jones and John Zackery II. “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” will be the HTG and Stage 9 debut performance for both Aden and Zackery. Jones appeared at Stage 9 in last season’s production of Lucky Stiff.

“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” is directed by Charles A. Johnston, HTG Production Coordinator. Other production team members include Susie Ray (Choreography), Lynn Ledeboer (Stage Manager), Kelly Gauthier (Costume Design), Jordan Hebert (Lighting and Sound Design), and Maureen Hill (Properties Design). In addition to directing, Johnston is responsible for the musical direction and scenic design for the production.
